Will Bernard & Motherbug
February 28, 2001

The band has been described as "funktified, sexified juiced-up soft-core jazz-porn on acid," but that, of course is ridiculous. Motherbug's groovy sound is sometimes mellow - an experimental fusion of funk/jazz/blues/hip-hop/rock - but it's never "soft." And let's drop the acid reference altogether and think about something more appealing, like food.

Seasoned guitarist Will Bernard serves up an eclectic mix of sounds, and as they say on the album, those sounds are reminiscent of "grits and pancakes and scrambled eggs...all mixed up...but they still hit you." See? Food. Acid jazz? Please. Must we use a references to drug-states to describe a kitsch voyage into nonlinear megazonal flotation canopies licking emerald leaves of banana trees above ten thousand folding elephants collapsing neatly into hidden rows of aces shouting "BLACKJACK"?
